Good BEE-havior

Ms. Jensen's Discipline Policy:

Good BEE-havior

Be Respectful, Be Safe and Be Responsible

Your child will start each day on green. If a child is caught making good BEE-haviors, he/she will change their stick up a color. If they are caught making poor choices, he/she will change their stick down a color level. Below is the color chart to show what kind of day they are having.

Yellow:  Excellent Day!!! ( I earn a Yellow ticket)

Green:  Great Day!

Orange:  I needed a warning for my BEE-havior!

Red:  I need a Time Out!

(I did not follow the good BEE-havior rules)

When a stick is moved to orange, your child should be thinking about making better choices, but with a warning they are still having a good day. If they have to move down again to red, a time out will be given from the group. Sometimes this time out will be served in Life Skills (room 20) supervised with an activity to complete including the "My Action Plan." This plan will help students understand that what they did was not a good choice and what they will do next time. This will help focus on the positive and what they should do in hard situations. They will also understand why they need to make better choices. When your child ends on a yellow day, they will receive a yellow ticket to be drawn to earn prizes within the classroom, campus wide games for "ROCK" Rally's and lunches with the Principal. If your child turns to red, he/she cannot have a yellow day or a yellow ticket, but can change back to orange or green when they are having a better day.

This chart is to help keep track and focus on the positive BEE-haviors your child will have. I also want to give attention and praise to those who are making good choices. After all, we want children to learn how to make good choices, not just to punish and deal with them when they are making the wrong choices.

Throughout the year our class will take several field trips and in order to have a safe and fun time, these rules have to be followed.  If a student receives a behavior referral, I will be conferencing with you by way of phone call or in person if possible.  At this conference we will discuss strategies to help make your child successful in class.  Our school runs on a trimester system and if your child receives a behavior referral during the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd trimester they will not be allowed to attend class field trips for the remainder of that trimester.  Each trimester we will start over fresh (for example:  If your child receives a behavior referral in trimester 1 then they would start fresh with zero referrals for trimester 2.  If you have any questions please contact me.

We are working very hard to make the classroom a safe and fun place to be.  Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Ms. Jensen
